Orphanage Halima Selengiya is the Non-government organization (NGO) which deals with providing charity to orphans and homeless children, Shortly, the orphanage was Named as orphanage Halima Selengiya due to a woman who was a freedom fighter and Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) founder in Moshi municipal Branch. Which was set up in 1954. On a visit to Kilimanjaro region, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, the founding father of modern Tanzania, resided at Halima Selengiya’s home, she gave free home to homeless and orphans children. Due to that factor she was one among the contributor to our Orphanage centre. After her death for four years, community members continued her legacy by caring for orphans for that factor is where orphanage Halima was established and the leader was Swalehe Zabura Mkilindi who is still the director for this orphanage centre.
